Elder Fairchild volunteered to go to the home to see the situation. As the pictures show, the family lives in a very basic shelter. We talked about what to do. Should the house be rebuilt or just repaired? Where would the money come from? Who would do the work? Would it be fair to replace this house when the houses on either side also need repair? Etc.

The houses on the road by this house are similar, but have better protection from the elements and are a little larger. The easy answer is to write a check to buy the material and get the work done (probably about $1,000). However, after you’ve done one house, what will you do with the next, and the next, and so on. The need in this case is not unusual.
The decision is not easy and has many implications. We’ve left the decision where it belongs … in the hands of the branch leaders. The branch has come together to help this family.
