During the last month the Mission has hosted two delegations. The first delegation was made up of 10 government leaders in Vietnam. These individuals are responsible for overseeing religions who are registered in Vietnam. They wanted to see how the different religions in Cambodia function. We set up each of the rooms as though a class was being taught in Primary, YM/YW, Relief Society and provided a lunch for them before they went on to Battambang and Siem Reap. As they toured the building, the Vietnamese Elders and Sisters acted as their guides. Vietnam does not recognize the Church in their country so our missionaries teach the Vietnamese that live here in Cambodia. We are hoping this visit may be a milestone to bringing missionary work into Vietnam.
The second delegation was made up of the Minister of Cults and Religion for Cambodia. He was accompanied by 10 other representatives of his Ministery. The delegation took essentially the same tour as the group from Vietnam.
Both events were well received and we hope will be helpful to the Church in both countries.
Part of the planning for this event had Sister Fairchild buying flowers at the Central Market. Sister Winegar and Sister Fairchild took Tay, our office assistant with us to place the order. We paid $100 for all the arrangements that in the U.S. would have easily been over $500. These are a sampling of the flowers we bought.
