The Water Festival is a BIG celebration in Phnom Penh every year. The celebration lasts for 4-5 days. They say that about 1 million people come from the provinces to see the festival. There are boat races every day. The boats are powered by oars. They vary in size from 15-20 people to larger. The boats in the race are the winners of races that were held in their local villages and provinces. In the evening they had large barges decorated with lights followed by a fireworks display. This goes on for 3-4 days. A big event.
